The highlight of anyone’s visit to Yellowstone National Park (the first national park established in our great country) has to be the witnessing of the clock-like majestic geyser Old Faithful. Check out the webCam so you can see for yourself the powerful eruption of this cloud of steam. The next predicted eruption time is posted there so you can watch for the approximate ten minute target time.

Having never visited this great northwest region, I continue to be awestruck by the incredible beauty orchestrated by our God and Creator. The variety of geothermal displays in Yellowstone alone was incredible.

With half of the earth’s geothermal features, Yellowstone holds the planet’s most diverse and intact collection of geysers, hot springs, mudpots, and fumaroles. Its more than 300 geysers make up two thirds of all those found on earth. Combine this with more than 10,000 thermal features comprised of brilliantly colored hot springs, bubbling mudpots, and steaming fumaroles, and you have a place like no other. Geyserland, fairyland, wonderland–through the years, all have been used to describe the natural wonder and magic of this unique park that contains more geothermal features than any other place on earth.

But all of these wonders of nature are designed to point away from themselves to the worship and adoration of the Creator. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made . . .” (Romans 1:20). But the vast majority of people don’t get the message. They see the same incredible wonders of nature but end up exchanging the truth of God for a lie and worshiping and serving the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever (Romans 1:25).

The dependability of Old Faithful pales in comparison to the unwavering faithfulness of Jehovah Jireh – the God who provides all our needs and keeps all of His promises. Just as we can look back as a family and testify to God’s faithfulness in providing way beyond the “daily bread” and sustenance which He has promised, so we can look forward to His promised coming – a coming which the same humanists deny and mock – but a coming which the Lord will fulfill with even greater precision than the erupting of Old Faithful:

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)

“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13)

“Great is Thy Faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:23)

So keep an eye on your calendar and check your watch… but remember that with the Lord, “one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day” so don’t be found in the company of those mocking and saying “Where is the promise of His coming?” (2 Peter 3) God has not chosen to reveal the hour and the day of His coming… but He has left no doubt about the certainty of His return and what He will accomplish on that day.
