Our impatient society bugs me no end when either a pedestrian or another driver starts to inch out as I am driving by. Some people seem to delight in trying to time their advance so that they cut it as close as possible. Where is the decency and respect in waiting one’s turn and not encroaching on another’s space?

I’m not a mind reader. I have no way of discerning the intentions of these aggressive threats. We are not just talking about an aggravation here. There is potential for some serious harm. The driver with the right of way might stop abruptly . . . causing an accident . . . or the pedestrian might be scheming some type of “bump and sue” strategy. Is saving that extra split second of crossing time really worth it? Let’s all agree just to wait for our turn and respect the right of way of oncoming traffic.
