I want to be a good citizen as much as the next guy. But I fail to see how a blaring text alert message in the middle of the night accomplishes anything. The other night my wife and I were jolted out of our sleep by piercing Alert messages exhorting us to help track down some type of silver car with license plate XXX1234. Somehow my on-highway sleuth skills were not operating at a premium level at that point in time. I understand the urgency of an Amber or Silver Alert. But there is a time and place for everything. Given our sophisticated state of technology, surely such messages could avoid targeting people in the midst of REM sleep.
