There is a reason the Apostle Paul warned the Colossians not to mess around with “philosophy and empty deception” (Colossians 2:8). The most effective preachers historically have been those who “put the cookies on the lower shelf” — making their teaching accessible to everyone – yet still preaching with a depth of content that satisfies all levels of spiritual maturity – not an easy task.

We need to be careful about having our ears tickled with complicated philosophical oratory that does not speak to the heart of our dependence upon our Lord Jesus Christ – and our union with Him in His crucifixion and resurrection.
